Adrienne was a constant in my forever-changed world back in 2017 and to this day. My mother, who was my best friend, passed away suddenly from Leukemia. From diagnosis to her being gone, it was less than 2 weeks. I was in shock, numb. The same day she passed was Adrienne’s birthday but she took time to help me come to terms with it that day. I had to tell my kids, she helped me with what to say. I had to help my dad without “parenting” him, and she was there. She helped me figure out what healthy boundaries were with family in this time. She helped me to navigate what it looked like in social and work settings when the feelings of anger and sadness would feel like they were going to boil over – how to curb those until I had the time to process them fully (that part was the hardest). She told me what I needed to hear to grow and I am forever grateful.
